Privacy Policy
GetMoji is a free emoji reference and copy-paste tool operated by ShickShack. This policy describes what data the site collects, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. It covers getmoji.app and its subpages.
What we collect
You can browse, search and copy emoji without giving us anything. We have no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter. There are, however, two ways data is collected, and we would rather be plain about both.
Collected automatically. Like most sites, our servers and the third parties below receive technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser and operating system, screen size, referring page, the pages you view, and the approximate location derived from your IP. Advertising and analytics cookies may also store a random identifier in your browser.
Text you type into the emoji generator. If you use the AI emoji text generator, the sentence you enter is sent to Google's Gemini API to be transformed and returned. Please do not enter personal, confidential or sensitive information into it. We do not store the text on our own servers, but it does leave your browser and reach Google — see below.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. GetMoji uses them in three ways: strictly necessary cookies that make the site work, analytics cookies that tell us which pages are useful, and advertising cookies set by Google.
Ads personalisation. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to GetMoji and other sites on the internet.
You can turn off personalised advertising at any time in Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies — the site will still work, though ads may become less relevant.
GDPR: EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive give you the rights set out below. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies or using your data for ads personalisation. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect anything done beforehand.
Our legal bases. We rely on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies; on legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and functioning; and on performing a service you asked for when you submit text to the emoji generator.
Your rights. You may request access to the data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask us to restrict or stop processing it, request a copy in a portable format, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to the address below and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
International transfers. Our providers are US-based and may process your data outside your country, under the safeguards described in their own policies linked above.
If you are in California
Under the CCPA and CPRA you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you, ask for deletion, ask for correction, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may nevertheless count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, and you can opt out using the Google Ads Settings link above or a browser-level Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Data retention
We hold no user database. Analytics data is retained by Google under its own schedule, by default no more than 14 months for event-level records. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded. Text submitted to the emoji generator is not written to our storage; it exists only for as long as the request takes to complete.
Children
GetMoji is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be noted prominently on the page rather than made quietly.
